AIM: Graphing Slope Intercept Form

SLOPE INTERCEPT FORM y = mx + b m = slope (how the points Move) b = y-intercept (where the Bomb hits the target)

To graph in slope-intercept form Write the equation in y = mx + b form by solving for y Identify slope as m (number multiplied to x) Identify y-intercept as b (number without the x) Make a point at b on the y-axis Move from that point m rise/run for the next point. Continue until you can connect the points in a line through the coordinate plane.

Example y = 5x + 3 slope = 5 = 5/1 5 rise = 5 up 1 run 1 right y-intercept = 3

Example y = 5x + 3 slope = 5 y-intercept = 3

Example y = -2x slope = -2 y-intercept = 0

Example y = -2x slope = -2 y-intercept = 0

Example slope = y-intercept = -2

Example slope = y-intercept = -2

Example 2y = 4x - 6 2y = 4x - 6 Divide by 2. y = 2x - 3 Slope = 2 y-intercept = -3

Example 2y = 4x - 6 2y = 4x - 6 Divide by 2. y = 2x - 3 Slope = 2 y-intercept = -3
