Banbury United ~ the future ~ Banbury United Supporters Club

How have we got here?

What does being a Community Benefit Society mean.....

A new club structure One that is transparent, engages with fans and gives an opportunity to invest in and have a stake in ownership

A new club structure Where we can fully involve supporters and partners and harness their talents and skills.

A new club structure Where officers are elected by and accountable to the club membership.

It offers a Membership Organisation with a clear and accountable Management Board

To transfer ownership to a CBS will be achieved with the support and guidance of Supporters Direct who have worked with many other clubs.

The CBS model is based on 1 member – 1 vote. Members pay an annual fee which gives them a share in the club and voting rights at an AGM.

In addition, to help raise capital, Community Shares in the club will be offered to members for purchase.

Community Shares maximise the potential for new income at the club relaunch. We create working capital for the new entity.

BUSC know this model has created fresh impetus for similar clubs to develop and prosper

If there is an appetite for change we need to Undertake due diligence in examining finances of the club.

With Supporters Direct’s help, undertake the legal requirements to change ownership of the club into a CBS and get it set up.

Finalise legal arrangements with the club and transfer ownership.

Once incorporated open Membership and the Community Share offer.

Then hold the first AGM of the CBS to agree - constitution - management structure - election of officers

We want annual membership for to be £10.00 and a Community Share £

We want to undertake all this so the AGM can be held mid-June 2015.

To do this we have a Steering Group to take the project forwards to incorporation and then the first AGM.

The Steering Group will also work to ensure we hit the season running.

We have already worked with Supporters Direct and current Board to get to this position - been pledged sponsorship into five figures

- been offered a significant sum to refurbish the clubhouse. - gained support from former United players

- Achieved significant media coverage -Started work on a budget for Given hope to supporters about the future.

We are looking at a Management Board of seven members, with other groups and individuals reporting into it.

A Management Board who will analyse & define every aspect of the club and officers and structure are put in place to manage these.

A Management Board with a chairman, a secretary and a treasurer and individual members responsible for....

- Commercial - Communication - Development

Our short term aims. - Increase membership -Stability, transparency & financial propriety - Increase income streams - Reduce overheads

- Engage with our members... the fans - Improve our standing in the community - Improve our PR.

Longer term aims include. - New ground - A fully integrated club – minis > seniors - Discuss football partnerships in the town

The steering - group is as follows Stephen Barlow, Mark Allitt, Nigel Porter, Dave Wyatt.

and, wanting to put his hat into the ring as the new chair of the club,

Former Banbury player Ronnie Johnson
