Polk County will designate itself as a Purple Heart County becoming the third county in the State of Florida to do so.

Polk Transit has joined an effort with Polk County Veterans Services and the City of Lakeland to assist in honoring the 3,000 to 4,000 Purple Heart Veterans in Polk County.

To show our support for this great initiative, Winter Haven Area Transit will have one of its 30-foot Gillig Buses wrapped in a commemorative design honoring Purple Heart Veterans in Polk County

All of the Purple Heart Veterans in this presentation will have their images as part of the bus wrap.

This bus will be unveiled August 11 at 10 a.m. at Veterans Park in Lakeland as part of the City of Lakeland’s/Polk County groundbreaking ceremony for a Purple Heart Veterans Monument.

 As a special treat to everyone in the audience, we will have a special unveiling today. Drum Roll Please...
