Definition of Literary Genre: Genre is a French word that means "kind." In literature, genre means the type of book or story. Common genres are mystery; fantasy; science fiction; historical; romance; adventure; and horror. While each genre has elements that are unique to that genre, the lines between the genres can be blurred, but the plot plan will still have the same elements as any fiction story. Next
