History and the Present in the Creation of Hydraulic Schemes of Local Networks at SPP-distribúcia a.s., Using the Simone SW Tool Authors:RNDr. Roman Brichta, Ing. Roman Damek, 9th SIMONE Congress , Dubrovnik, Croatia

Summary The high growth of demand for gas from the local networks (SPP-distribúcia a.s. total local network represent km in 2007 year) in certain regions in Slovakia was responded to by SPP-distribúcia a.s. Bratislava by intensifying work in the generation of the local networks´ hydraulic schemes. This contribution summarizes the various stages of development, starting with manual drawing of pipelines and entering the individual customers in the SW Simone topoeditor, and currently ending with the comprehensive preparation of entry data for hydraulic calculations in the GIS.

The Objective Creation and operation of an upgradeable generation system of the hydraulic schemes of local networks in order to optimize the networks´ design within their development and reconstruction program at optimum CAPEX and OPEX parameters, and at the selected safety and reliability level of our supplies of gas to customers

Review of development of the company SPP (Slovak Gas Industry) since the entry of strategic investors 2002 – Privatization of SPP a.s. (entry of E-on Ruhrgas, Gaz de France ) 2004 – Restructuring of SPP a.s – Inception of Section Network Planning 2006 – Legal unbundling of SPP a.s. to the date – establishment of SPP-distribúcia a.s – The present SPP a.s. SPP- distribúcia a.s. Eustream a.s. Core Group

Milestones in the Creation of Hydraulic Schemes of Local Networks by SPP a.s. <

<2005 SW „PLYNOS“ –D–DOS program –C–Complicated preparation of large hydraulic schemes of major networks–network visualization unnecessary => high probability of errors –C–Completion of development and support GIS processed in Microstation AS400 – a nonstandard customer system Inconsistent database (topology + offtake) Integrated SW support of IT systems missing

SIMONE –2–2004 – Standardization of SIMONE (multi-licence purchases) –U–Use for high-pressure pipelines (HP) – dispatching, strategy department –S–Sporadic use for local networks – for parts of the networks only –E–Exclusively manual drawing of networks in the Simone topoeditor

2005 – Start of Key Projects Elaboration of rules, enabling the creation of standart hydraulic schemes of the local distribution networks Updating and verification of data in the GIS Run of the new customer system - SAP ISU /2005 Realization of the project „GIS-to-Simone - Stage I“ Objective: transform of the network topology from GIS to Simone Commencing creation of Bratislava´s hydraulic scheme by manually drawing the network, creating nodal points and manually seeking the locations of customers in the network (constituting km of pipelines, network elements, 187 pressure regulators, and customers. Completion: 02/2007.

GIS to SIMONE Stage I - Example

2006 Online monitoring system instalation with archiving of instantaneous gas flows and pressures at the reduction stations and selected customers (SCADA). Systematic pressure measurements of low-pressure (LP) parts of the networks – verification of the hydraulic model results (static and dynamic simulation) against the measured data (pressure, flow) of the network Improvement of data in the GIS (address-specific system, pipeline topology) Preparation of the project „GIS-SIMONE interlinkage, Stage II“ Objective: Comprehensive preparation of data for the hydraulic schemes in GIS Commencing creation of the hydraulic scheme of SR´s second-largest city, Košice, using the GIS-to-Simone Stage I converter program ( constituting 643 km of pipelines and service pipelines, network elements, 101 pressure regulators, customers). Completion: 04/2007

/2007 Realization of the project „Interlinkage of GIS D-SIMONE Stage II“ GIS data improvement (address-specific system, topology of lines...), required for the creation of HS Modification of SIMONE for SPP´s Version XXL – elements

Main Outputs of the „GIS- SIMONE Stage II“ Linkage New control tests procedures creation in the GIS – Altitude above sea level – Nonzero pipeline dimensions – Conjunction of the topology of gas lines – Import and check of customer identifiers (Point of delivery - PoD) – Search for duplicity objects in the GIS –I–Identification of duplicities in the GIS address system Resolution of unidentified consumptions in the GIS Calculation of the maximum hourly offtake for each PoD from the SAP ISU Presentation of calculation results in the GIS environment Repeatability of the hydraulic network updating

Sequence of Steps in the Creation of Hydraulic Schemes, Using the „GIS Simone Stage II “ System TTesting the quality of data in the GIS IImport of POD objects (delivery points) from SAP ISU via the existing GIS address system CCalculation of maximum hourly consumptions EExport of data from GIS RReading of data into the Simone system EExport of data from SIMONE IImport of text files into GIS PPresentation of the hydraulic conditions´ calculation results in the GIS

Information Flow Between Applicable Information Systems of SPP-distribúcia a.s. within the GIS Simone Stage II Solution SAP ISU SCADA SIMONE Calculation of maximum hourly consumptions Interlinkage GIS – SIMONE GIS PoD data Output reports on consumptions Calculated max. hourly consumptions Topological network objects, consumptions, RS settings Calculated network parameters txt

Visualization of the „GIS Simone Stage II“ Calculation Results in GIS Visualization of calculated parameters: Pressure Flow rate Flow Pipeline size Max. hourly offtake Simone Visualization of the max. hourly offtake in GIS Visualization of calculated pressures in the GIS
