4 Policy and planning In 2011 road traffic accident deaths in Mongolia reached 824 or 6.79% of total deaths. The age adjusted Death Rate is per 100,000 of population, and ranks Mongolia #26 in the world. Road accidents 5 th top cause of death in Mongolia

5 Policy and planning Why do more men than women die from road traffic injuries? Risky behaviours and disregard of pain and injury associated with masculinity Greater exposure to driving and time spent in vehicles Due to their biological and social standing, men and women experience differences in: health status, exposure to risk and vulnerability, access to and use of services, health-seeking behaviour, experiences in health care settings, and health and social outcomes.
