Name of Museum A Child’s History of the World by Virgil M. Hillyer was my first history textbook. This book is part of the reason why I decided to become a history teacher. This book helped me to explore essentially the history of the world essentially from the very beginning (Neanderthals) until the end of the Cold War. A Child’s History of the World by Virgil M. Hillyer Back to Room 1

Name of Museum My globe was one of the first things that my parents bought me when I started to learn geography. The globe was really fascinating in that it shows the routes that famous explorers took from their home to their final destination. As a kid and even to this day I sometimes look at the globe as a source of inspiration and to find where places are in relation to others. This globe helped me significantly when studying both geography and history throughout my academic career. Globe of Famous Explorers and their Voyages Back to Room 1

Name of Museum I am a huge science fiction buff in that I have always tied science fiction to the study of the social sciences. My favorite science fiction television show is Lost. The artifact itself is a map of the Island that was featured on Lost to represent the show. I have always looked to all science fiction as inspiration and as a metaphor to the way we as historians and social scientists analyze different cultural interactions and how people interact with history, geography, and government. I have actually written a research paper tying Star Trek to the Civil Right Movement. Science Fiction (Especially Lost, Star Trek, Star Wars, BSG, and etc) Back to Room 1

Name of Museum This quote is one of my all time favorite quotes. This quote really sums up why I wanted to be a student of history and why I want to teach history someday. History is a subject that has many different lenses to look through and is one of the most complex subjects to grasp because you have to take into consideration multiple perspectives different from your own. Favorite Quote The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands but seeing with new eyes. —Marcel Proust Back to Room 1

Name of Museum The Outer Banks in North Carolina is one of my favorite places to visit for vacation. The Outer Banks is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places that I have ever been to. Ironically, the Outer Banks was a source of inspiration for me due to the Outer Banks and its connection to the history of aviation, the lost Roanoke Island, and etc. I have actually written a paper for historical methods based on the Lafayette Escadrille thanks in most part due to this trip and how I was fascinated with the history of aviation. The Outer Banks of N.C. Back to Room 2

Name of Museum My favorite topics in history are: 1.Revolutions 2.Cultural Change/Civil Rights 3.Genocide 4.Use of biological and nuclear weapons 5.Slavery 6.The Cold War All of these topics are my favorites in World History and in US History. These topics are some of the most juiciest and fertile topics in history to debate about. Favorite Topics in History Insert Artifact Picture Here Back to Room 3
