© 2012 Fruition Horticulture Layering refers to clothing that is worn over the top of other clothing. This guide offers seasonal workers some useful tips about layering to keep warm and dry during the colder months in New Zealand.

© 2012 Fruition Horticulture The first layer of clothing which is worn next to the skin should be close fitting such as polypropylene, polyester and wool.

© 2012 Fruition Horticulture The second layer, such as long sleeved wool or nylon shirt should be loose fitting to keep you warm but, not hot.

© 2012 Fruition Horticulture Clothing made from wool or fleece makes an ideal third layer. The third layer like a woollen pullover or jacket offers additional insulation to ensure that the bottom layers stay dry as well.

© 2012 Fruition Horticulture The fourth layer or outside layer should be water proof and windproof to keep cold air out and keep you warm and dry.

© 2012 Fruition Horticulture Activity (Click on the button below) Test your knowledge of clothing layers by trying the clothing layering quiz.
