3. © 2012 Fruition Horticulture Gross Pay often includes allowances. In the example payslip, the gross pay is based on an hourly rate of $13.00 John worked 16.4 hours of work. This gives a total of $213.20 for the work he did John got additional allowances gave him a total gross pay of $639.20

4. © 2012 Fruition Horticulture Deductions that the employer can take from your pay are things like health insurance, travel, accommodation, airfare repayment. They can only be made with your approval in writing.

5. © 2012 Fruition Horticulture Everyone pays tax in New Zealand - Pay As You Earn tax. You will be taxed at 10.5% - this is a special rate for RSE workers.

6. © 2012 Fruition Horticulture Net pay is the amount of money earned AFTER tax and deductions. This is the total amount of pay that you will receive for this pay period.
