2 Statistisches Bundesamt UnderLying Philosophy  The development of statistical systems in the frame of cooperation projects has to be supported by institutional capacity building.  A sophisticated long-term strategy and sound quality management will ensure positive results beyond the lifetime of single projects.

5 Statistisches Bundesamt  The Federal Statistical Office provides statistical information on societal, economic and ecological phenomena, trends and connections as part of a basic information supply. This means in particular that:  all users have free access to that information,  its production is publicly financed,  it is commissioned by the legislators.  In addition to this basic information supply, the Federal Statistical Office offers statistical services against reimbursement of the costs.
