Pastor: I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done. All: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. Opening Responses

Pastor: The Lord’s right hand was majestic in power. The Lord’s right hand shattered the enemy. In the greatness of his majesty he threw down those who opposed him. All: Death has been swallowed up in victory. Opening Responses

Pastor: Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? All: Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Opening Responses

Pastor: I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. All: Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise! Opening Responses

Pastor: The Lamb at the center of the throne will be our shepherd; he will lead us to springs to living water. All: And God will wipe away every tear from our eyes. Opening Responses

Confession of Sins Pastor: God dearly wants us to share completely in his life and love. He created us for himself. Yet we fall short of his holiness. He yearns to be reconciled with us. Let us therefore approach him this Easter Day seeking his pardon for our sins.

All: Holy and merciful Father, I confess that I am by nature sinful, and that I have disobeyed you in my thoughts, words, and actions. I have done what is evil and failed to do what is good. Confession of Sins

All: In particular, I confess how I at times stumble in my faith. Sometimes I live and act as though Your Son neither died for my sins nor rose bodily from the grave. Too many times throughout the year, I have neglected your Word and worship. Confession of Sins

All: For these and other offenses, I deserve to be abandoned by you both now and in eternity. But I am truly sorry for my sins, and trusting in my risen Savior, I pray: Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner. Confession of Sins

(Pastor announces our forgiveness) All: Amen.

Verse 3: Now let the heav'ns be joyful; Let earth her song begin. Let all the world keep triumph And all that is therein. Let all things, seen and unseen, Their notes of gladness blend; For Christ the Lord has risen; Our joy shall have no end. Verse 1: The day of resurrection! Earth, tell it out abroad, The Passover of gladness, The Passover of God. From death to life eternal, From this world to the sky, Our Christ has brought us over With hymns of victory. He’s Risen, He’s Risen CW #143 Verses 1-5 Text: Carl F. W. Walther, Setting: WALTHER Tune: Carl F. W. Walther, Verse 2: The foe was triumphant when on Calvary The Lord of creation was nailed to the tree. In Satan's’ domain did the hosts shout and jeer, For Jesus was slain, whom the evil ones fear. Verse 5: Then sing your hosannas and raise your glad voice; Proclaim the blest tidings that all may rejoice. Laud, honor, and praise to the Lamb that was slain, Who now sits in glory and ever shall reign. Verse 3: But short was their triumph; the Savior arose, And death, hell, and Satan he vanquished, his foes. The conquering Lord lifts his banner on high; He lives, yes, he lives, and will nevermore die. Verse 4: Oh, where is your sting, death? We fear you no more; Christ rose, and now open is fair Eden’s door. For all our transgressions his blood does atone; Redeemed and forgiven, we now are his own. Verse 1: He's risen, he’s risen, Christ Jesus, the Lord; He opened death’s prison, the incarnate Word. Break forth, hosts of heaven, in jubilant song And earth, sea, and mountain the praises prolong.

God’s Word to His People 1 Corinthians 15:51-57 The victory of Jesus’ resurrection over death

Choir ♫: Alleluia. Alleluia. Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. Alleluia. 1 Corinthians 15:22 Verse of the Day

Confession of Faith Luther’s Explanation of the Second Article of the Apostles’ Creed from the Small Catechism

All: I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the virgin Mary, is my Lord.

All: He has redeemed me, a lost and condemned creature, purchased and won me from all sins, from death and from the power of the devil, not with gold or silver, but with his holy, precious blood and with his innocent sufferings and death.

All: All this he did that I should be his own, and live under him in his kingdom, and serve him in everlasting righteousness, innocence and blessedness, just as he has risen from death and lives and rules eternally. This is most certainly true.

In thankfulness for our salvation, we support God’s work with our offerings.

Prayers of the Church Pastor: O Lord God, our strength, our song, and our salvation, you fulfilled your promises by the resurrection of your Son, Jesus Christ, from the dead. All: Thanks be to God! You give us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayers of the Church Pastor: In your compassion you sent Christ, the Good Shepherd, who laid down his life to rescue the lost. All: Drive out all doubt and gloom that we may delight in your glorious triumph.

Prayers of the Church Pastor: Lift our eyes heavenward… … standing before your throne and singing the song of victory. All: Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive wisdom and power and honor and glory and praise.

Prayers of the Church Pastor: Make us instruments of… … our time, our talents, and our treasures. All: Risen Lord, live in us that we may live for you.

Prayers of the Church Pastor: Gracious Father, you have restored to us the joy of your salvation. With happy hearts, we come before you and say: All: Alleluia! Thanks be to God! Amen. Pastor: Hear us now, dear Risen Savior, as we join to pray as you have taught us:

Lord’s Prayer All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.

Lord’s Prayer All: Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Lord’s Prayer All: For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen

The Sacrament Pastor: The Lord be with you. All: And also with you. Pastor: Lift up your hearts. All: We lift them up to the Lord. Pastor: Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God. All: It is good and right so to do.
