MATTHEW 28:

Introduction. This is Easter Sunday! Jesus defeated hell, He defeated death. He reigns victorious!!! He is the Lord. That is the message of Easter Sunday. Let’s celebrate it.

The Resurrection Story. Matthew relates the events of the first Easter morning, which include an earthquake, angels, terrified guards, and two Mary’s, all before dawn. As Jesus appears to them His presence turns their fear into worship. Does Jesus have that same effect on you? Do your fears melt away as you behold the beauty and majesty of Jesus?

The Resurrection Story. The light of the gospel was not extinguished with Jesus’ death. His resurrection has overcome the darkness. We carry Resurrection light with us wherever we go.

The Resurrection Story The Resurrection is the confirmation that the darkness of death has been conquered and that Jesus offers new life for all who dare to follow Him.

The Resurrection of Jesus fulfils the deepest hopes of humanity. This is not just a gospel of words and talk, it is a gospel of power. Jesus is alive, He conquered death, and He rose again. All people All people can now gain access to salvation through His death on the cross.

Romans 10: 14 – 15 “How then can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news”!

Jesus the crucified one lives as the Risen One. “He is not here; he has risen just as he said”. (Matthew 28: 6) Jesus the crucified one is victorious, because He is Jesus the risen one. eyewitnesses of His majesty” “We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty”. (2 Peter 1: 16).

Resurrection Perspective on life: As we learn to view life through the lens of the empty tomb, it puts everything else into right perspective. How has the resurrection impacted you? What effect has it had on your life? Has it turned your world upside down? Is it your story everywhere you go?

Resurrection Power for life: The Resurrection exudes ultimate power. “ALL AUTHORITY in heaven and earth has been given to me”. That authority is available to us through the name of Jesus. The name that is above every name.

DECLARE TOGETHER: I have the power and authority in my life to accomplish anything Jesus asks me to do.

Resurrection Purpose for life: Because Jesus lives we have an impelling purpose for our lives: to make Jesus known to people. “I AM with you always to the end of the age”. (Matt 28: 20).

Conclusion. Let’s go out in the resurrection power of Jesus. He longs to take us on a journey with him into His kingdom that is dynamic, dangerous but incredibly exciting. Are you up for it?
