Fashion Empowerment SIMPLE-MATHS

GENERAL PROBLEM ANALYSES (according to project) There is lack of sustainable and human-centered perspective in Fashion industry. PROBLEM ANALYSES (according to our group research development and found market group) There is lack of garment assortment in young mother`s wardrobes by environmental/ functional/ human-centered point of view.

OBJECTIVE To come up with design solutions according to the demanding customer needs and same time consider environment perspective.

TARGET GROUP Target group starts from the phase of woman giving birth and ends when mother phase recovered totally and gained more personal freedom again. (the time when woman fits in the clothes she was wearing before maternity again and the child is about 5-year old)

CONTEXT & NEED Context & Need: She has a need for more adaptable garment for public use because of the roles she plays (As a design research qualitative method – interviews with target group was used) “Being and feeling good/beautiful with body changes in public and home“ Client needs: -To brestfeed in public space -Practical garment that is easy to care -Garment that has value by being simple but points out the beauty in young mother -Natural fabrics

SOLUTION -Functionality: - easy to handle for brestfeeding -easy to take care of : easy to clean; garment holds form; geometry/pattern hides light stains; durable, longlasting materials/cuts -preferably with some patterns, geometry rather than plain one-coloured garments -easy to put on/put off -Human-centered approach: design is adaptable according to different body- types; materials selected are breathing and without any chemical residues -Environmental approach: -Selecting fabrics as source material by taking account its environmental impact by making and wearing. (upcycling from second-hand garments; natural materials that are produced with low impact to nature; non- or natural colored fabrics. -Searching new ways how to deal with source material- try to find soultions by using simple geometry and geometric layouts

EMPOWERMENT As there are big changes taking place in female physical and mental body empowerment through garments is a way for mothers to feel better about themselves which also reflects positively to the bond between mother and a child. The aim is to empower young mothers through garments and the garment should meet their needs and bring their natural spark out.
