Definition of Sin  I John 3:4 – “Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.”  I John 5:17 – “All unrighteousness is sin”  James 4:17 – “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

Nature of Sin  James 1:14-16 – “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.”  Hebrews 3:12-13 – “lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”  Romans 3:23 – “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

Effects of Sin  Isaiah 59:1-2 – “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.”  Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death”  Matthew 7:21-23 – “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!”

We Must Repent  Matthew 3:2, Matthew 4:17 – “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”  Luke 13:3, 5 – “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”  Acts 2:37-38 – “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins”

Sin No More  Hate Darkness & Love Light  We Must Repent  Dead to Sin, Slaves of Righteousness

Dead to Sin, Slave of Righteousness  Romans 6:1-18 –  (6) “knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin”  (11) “Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  (18) “And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.”

Walk as Children of Light  Ephesians 5:3-11 –  (3) “But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints”  (8) “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light”  (11) “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them”

Different than the World  Romans 12:1-2 –  “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Different than the World  I Peter 4:1-4 –  “In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in same flood of dissipation”

Conclusion  Jesus calls us to follow Him and that we would SIN NO MORE.  Hate Darkness & Love Light  We Must Repent  Dead to Sin, Slaves of Righteousness  Walk as Children of Light  Different than the World

God’s Plan of Salvation  Hear the Word of God (Romans 10:17)  Believe in Jesus (John 8:24)  Repent of Sins (Luke 13:3)  Confess Faith in Christ (Romans 10:10)  Be Baptized in Water (Acts 8:35-39)  Remain Faithful (Revelations 2:10)  If err, repent and pray to God (I John 1:9)

Lord’s Supper  Partaking of the Bread:  Matthew 26:26 –  “Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, ‘Take, eat; this is my body”

Lord’s Supper  Partaking of the Fruit of the Vine:  Matthew 26:27-28 –  “Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins”

Giving  II Corinthians 9:7 –  “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver."
