Journal 4: What types of technology are used in your program?

Elmcrest Children’s Center Early Education Center

Elmcrest today

Early Education Center Spice The Early Education Center also provides preschool special education services for children in the Onondaga County community and surrounding counties through the SPICE program. Children are integrated into classrooms with peers who are enrolled through Small Wonders Daycare so that they experience inclusion as a part of their programming. SPICE children receive services onsite through Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Play Therapy and other clinical supports. Two of our classrooms offer specialized programming utilizing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), an evidenced-based intervention for children with Autism or developmental delays.

Technology used There’s not really any advanced technology used in the classrooms. Technologies that are used include: Attendance sheet Child sign in/out sheet Bumps and bruises sheet How well the children eat: little, well, none One iPad One computer for fun learning games. Radio for music Books and puzzles

What should be done.. Elmcrest should create a database using Access It would make it easier to communicate with the office and other classrooms when taking attendance. It could help keep track of who isn’t eating enough. There should be more iPad’s for children who are non verbal.
