Guidelines to pray for the church It is important to note that when we study the state of the church, our AIM IS NEVER to criticise, but to yield our hearts and join Christ in intercession who make these things known to us. Therefore – if you notice some instances to be true of your own life and/or leaders or your congregation – it is for this very reason that we pray for God’s will to be established - NOT to join Satan in accusation, BUT Christ in intercession.

(Rev.3:1-6) –Take up your keys and fight (Rev.3:7-12) –Next week: Hot or cold? (Rev.3:13-22)

IN THIS LIFE WE HAVE TO CARRY THE CROSS

We complain about the cross we bear, but do not realize it is preparing us for the dip in the road that God can see and we cannot! CRY OUT TO GOD FOR A GREATER CAPACITY TO PERSEVERE

The secret behind the ‘key’ Isa 22:22: The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; So he shall open, and no one shall shut; And he shall shut, and no one shall open. I will fasten him as a peg in a secure place, And he will become a glorious throne to his father's house. 'They will hang on him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the posterity, all vessels of small quantity, from the cups to all the pitchers.

2 Kinds of standing/fastening 1.GODLY COMMISSIONING e.g.: –Prompting of the Holy Spirit to tell someone something / do something for someone on a daily basis. –Short term outreach to a country, town, city, prayer journey. –Prayer initiative / outreach initiative e.g. soup kitchen etc. 2.LIFE LONG COMMITMENT: Another kind of ‘standing’ starts on the day you commit your life to Christ. 3.REMAIN STANDING: Don’t give up because of ‘feelings’. Get a spiritual mentor/prayer partner!

TAKE UP THE KEYS GOD GAVE YOU Rev 3:7-12 NKJ: … Philadelphia… “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens": “… I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. … Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. … Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.

Reposition your thinking 1.What is authority (keys) – proclaiming/ declaring these unlocks holiness and shuts up evil. Proclaiming/declaring these exposes evil so justice may come. He that is holy – without sin, pure in doctrine, works and operating in gifts of Holy Spirit, Mediator. He that is true – Cannot lie, both God and man, Word that became flesh to show/reveal God. Key of David – Emblem of authority & knowledge.

Reposition your thinking What is authority (keys) Opens & shuts: Scriptures that are shut to natural man. Door for gospel to be preached. Door of heaven through His blood. No one can shut: Free & unrestrained access to Father’s house. Power to admittance/denying entrance. His rulership is supreme.

Reposition your thinking What is authority (keys) 5.Holds the keys Of death & Hades (hell) Can unlock the gates of death – that which bring death Lead into eternal life – that which brings life

Reposition your thinking What is authority (keys) Do not deny His name – when in court /life at risk/persecution. Keep His Word - the true doctrine, not embrace interesting teachings which are false. – Do you treasure it with all your heart? Persevere – not to give in to temptations and to remain standing for the truth. Hour of trial - Those who keep the gospel in a time of peace shall be kept by Christ in an hour of temptation/trial!!!

Take up your authority Zec 8:16-17; These are the things you shall do: –Speak each man the truth to his neighbour; –Give judgment in your gates for truth, justice, and peace; –Let none of you think evil in your heart against your neighbor; –And do not love a false oath.

GOD’S PROMISE TO CITIES "Thus says the LORD of hosts: –Peoples shall yet come, inhabitants of many cities; –The inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, –Let us continue to go and pray before the LORD, –And seek the LORD of hosts. –I myself will go also.

HOW TO PRAY FOR THE CHURCH THAT SHE WILL: Have a revelation of Jesus Christ as the HOLY ONE. Have a revelation of Jesus Christ as the complete truth. Recognize Christ as the One with the supreme authority in the church and herself in submission to Him, portraying His image to those who do not know Him. Come to know and understand the ways/keys of the kingdom of God, and begin to walk in it. Learn to cry out to the One who opens and shuts doors.

HOW TO PRAY FOR THE CHURCH THAT SHE WILL: Realise that Jesus knows every work she does, whether good or evil, and to be watchful at her deeds. Make the best of every opportunity that Christ present her to preach the gospel, to testify, to do good works and spread the fame of His kingdom. Not give up in times when she feels weak or have little strength. That God will grant her favour so everyone who resist or persecute her will realise the truth and come to repent of their evil deeds. That the lifestyle of the church will cause unbelievers to clearly see that Christ loves His body/the church.

HOW TO PRAY FOR THE CHURCH THAT SHE WILL: Keep the command of God to persevere amidst adversity. Be kept safe in the hour of trial or when adversities strike the whole earth. Be able to withstand the test and remain faithful to God. Have a focus on the return of Christ that is coming soon. Hold fast to what she has – good works, faith, patience etc.

HOW TO PRAY FOR THE CHURCH THAT SHE WILL: That no circumstance will rob the church from her eternal crown/inheritance with Christ Jesus. Despite so much resistance – be able to overcome. Be known as a pillar in God's temple (Jachin – He shall establish & Boaz – In it is strength – 1 Ki.7:21). Know stability because she dwells in His presence and no longer go out of it. Bear the Name of God, the Name of the city of God and the Name of Christ.
