Questions “Does electricity conduct through rubber?”

Hypothesis We think that rubber is one of the materials that could block electricity

Procedure Materials: Rubber(eraser) 2 Crocodile clips Light bulb Light bulb holder 2 batteries Battery holder Steps: 1.Screw the light bulb into the light bulb holder 2.Take the eraser and cut 2 small bits of it out and clip it onto one side of the crocodile clips 3.Put the batteries onto the battery holder 4.Clip the other side of the crocodile clips onto the battery holder’s nails 5.Hold the one of the crocodile clips side that has rubber on it to the light bulb holder’s nails.

Diagram Before using rubber Materials What happens when we use rubber

Explanation  Circuit= A complete path for an electrical current  Conductor= materials that electricity can travel through  Insulator= materials which can stop heat, electricity and sound from escaping

Observations and Discoveries/ conclusion Wood, ceramic, glass and fabric are other things that doesn’t conduct electricity Blue tack on the light bulb holder’s nail conducts If we put normal tape on the light bulb’s nail it still lights up Plastic doesn’t block electricity The reason why the people who work near electricity wear rubber gloves and boots is to protect them from getting electric shots. Rubber is an insulator Rubber blocks electricity
