One Life Isaiah 43:18-19

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

One thing to remember… We need to always remember that God is doing a new thing in us, even if we don’t see it right now.

Three things to forget… Number 1: We need to forget the shame of our past so we can see and experience the new thing God is doing in us.

Three things to forget… Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is a new creation. Galatians 6:15 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17

Three things to forget… “Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth. Isaiah 54:4

Three things to forget… “Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will now bring Jacob back from captivity and will have compassion on all the people of Israel, and I will be zealous for my holy name. They will forget their shame and unfaithfulness... Ezekiel 39:25-26

Three things to forget… If you have guilt for what you’ve done… God says, “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.” Isaiah 43:25

Three things to forget… If you have shame about who you are, feeling inferior, defective or flawed… God says, “Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give men in exchange for you, and people in exchange for your life. Isaiah 43:4

Three things to forget… Number 2: We need to quit dwelling on what people have done to us in the past so we can start living in the present.

Three things to forget… “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14-15

Three things to forget… “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart.” Matthew 18:35

Three things to forget… Number 3: We need to forget our past victories and failures so we can move on to new challenges and adventures.

Three things to forget… “But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
