Graffiti Directions Around the room, you will see a picture next to each piece of paper. Each group will have 3 matching color markers. You should have a quiet conversation about each picture with your group members. Then do the following: – 1. Your group must write down one educated question. The question should be at least one sentence! – 2. Your group must write one well-thought out response to a previous question OR one statement about the picture. The response or statement should be at least one sentence! You will have 25 minutes to walk around the room. If we have time at the end of class, we will discuss what you write on each piece of paper.

Questions Before Activity Each response should be at least two sentences: 1.Define (in your own words) DESTINY. – The first sentence should be your definition. Your definition cannot contain the word “destiny”! – The second sentence should use the word “destiny” in another way. 2.How do you think settlers in the United States viewed land? To whom did it belong? How could you tell? 3.How do you think settlers treated Native Americans they came into contact with? How can you tell? You may not know an exact answer. Think about past events in U.S. History and use what you have learned in this class to answer.

Questions After Activity Each response should be at least two sentences: 1.Using examples from the activity – what do you think Manifest Destiny is? EXPLAIN your answer. 2.What picture was the most interesting to you, or had the most impact on you? EXPLAIN your answer. 3.What picture(s) do you want to know more about? EXPLAIN your answer. 4.What questions do you have about Manifest Destiny?
