How Do Hurricanes Happen? Hurricanes are the most awsome,violent storms on earth. People call these storms by other names, such as typhoons or cyclones, depending on where they occur. The scientific term for all these storms is the tropical cyclone. Only tropical cyclones that form over the Atlantic Ocean or Easten Pacific Ocean are where hurricanes form.

 The serious situation on the ground with many residents forced into roof tops to desperately seek help from passing rescue helicopters.
