Presentation transcript:

Coastal.... “We seek to expand our activities into the coastal sector through connections to food production and water resources.” Enhance the climate science research products needed by coastal stakeholders Focus on understanding the factors that shape the ability of coastal communities to plan for, respond to, and recover from the negative impacts associated with climate change. Proposed public health project….

Coastal.... Climate change is projected to bring diverse and complicated impacts on human health through extreme weather events, wildfires, decreased air quality, and diseases transmitted by insects, food, and water (Luber et al. 2014).

Goal of project: Build upon nationally award-winning efforts to develop interdisciplinary research, partnership, and outreach tools to improve Georgia’s ability to respond and adapt to public health risks related to a changing coastal ecosystem. By identifying information gaps and communication barriers in Georgia, this project will advance informed decision-making and improve communications about climate-health risks in coastal communities around the country.
