Okanogan Highlands cont… It is located between the Canadian boarder and the Columbia & Spokane Rivers It is located in the Northeast corner of the state Major Mountain Range is- Selkirk Mountains Columbia River- largest river in the Pacific northwest Major Tributaries to the Columbia River (in the Okanogan Highlands) are: Okanogan, Spokane, and Pend Oreille.

Climate Dry- due to the fact that the western part of the region is in the rain shadow of the Cascades. Average Precipitation (meaning rain)- 15-25 inches a year Most of the precipitation falls during the winter as snow and in the spring as rain. Temperatures are hot in the summer/cold in the winter

Vegetation Because of the dry climate and short growing season, vegetation is not as dense. Trees include pine and some fur. There is also a multitude of grasses found in this region.
