9 X Table I will show you how you can use your hands to help you with your 9X table

1 X 9 = 9 Bend your thumb for 1 X 9. Each finger to the right of the bent finger is worth 1. There are 9 units (1’s) to the right, so 1 X 9 = 9

2 X 9 = 18 Bend your second finger from the left for 2 X 9. Remember – all fingers to the right are worth 1. All fingers to the left are worth 10. So, = X 9 = 18

3 X 9 = 27 Bend your 3 rd finger for 3 X 9. Remember – 10’s to the left, 1’s to the right. 2 tens + 7 ones = = X 9 = 27

4 X 9 = ? Remember – bend your 4 th finger from the left for 4 X 9. How many tens to the left? How many 1’s to the right? What is the answer? 4 X 9 = ?

4 X 9 = 36 Did you get the right answer? 3 tens to the left = 30 6 ones to the right = = 36 4 X 9 = 36
