Mitten crab By Jacob Stoker

Description The mitten crab is about the size of the human hand, the easiest way of telling it is a mitten crab is the fur on its claws. The crab was originally from china. They like being in rivers the crabs are omnivores.

How it got to Canada and where is it The crabs got a ride from china to Europe and then eventually to the states then here in Canada. There have been sightings of the crabs all over canada

The ecosystem before they got here The ecosystem looked like narrower rivers and a lot more food and other animals.

What the ecosystem looks now The ecosystem looks like now is wider rivers because of erosion of the crabs burrowing and they eat a lot of the food the other fish/ aquatic animals eat

The problem The problem with mitten crabs are they over populate and take over everything and can cause an oriental lung flu

The problems being addressed I couldn’t find any information of how the problem is being addressed
