Some deserts are found by mountains and are caused by rain shadow effect as air moves over the mountain range so it loses ability to hold moisture

 Deserts are very hot in the day time. It usually is a 100 degrees Fahrenheit, but at night the same desert can have temperatures fall into the 40s or 50s.

 It is sandy and mostly dry and has very few trees.
