Understand “Real Issue(s)” Define the Element, description, and collection interface Identify and interview data administrators Relay information and Interview Community of Interest Identify possible solutions and obtain consensus by cy end Implement solution – throughout next faculty hiring cycle Revise business process and training documentation as required – by August 2008 Review solution with Community of Interest – cy end 2008 Move to archive – May Action Plan

Original issue vs “ real ” issue(s) Real Issue(s) – Contrary to the original issue description, provided in the Data Management Issue Resolution Process form for Issue 1, HRMS does have a terminal degree field. 1) What data populates this element? 2) What are the businesses processes necessary to populate this data? 3) What group of users will populate this element with data? 4) What business processes need be implemented to ensure this data maintains integrity, follows security and disposition procedures? 5) How will data users get access this data?

Define element, description, interface HRMS Data Dictionary - element identified as a C1 – Found in the ISI_EDB_P1A_T table associated with other educational information Description – anticipated to store a toggle flag (e.g. Y/N) to identify a degree as the highest attainable degree within a particular academic discipline. Interface – element found ‘green screen’ 11 called Educational Background.

Interview Data Administrators Diane Muntal - Institutional Analysis and Planning – Knowledge of Data Element – Diane was unaware that this element was available for storing data in HRMS. – Production of element data – Diane uses associated educational data from HRMS with data gathering interviews of the department chairs to derive the terminal degree data for Academic Faculty. This data is stored in an IAP data source outside of HRMS. Matt Garland, Salary Administration Manager – Knowledge of data element – did acknowledge existence of element in HRMS. – Production of element data - Matt Garland explains that it is not part of HRs business processes to enter this data.
