 Fireflies glow in the dark and everyone wants to catch one in a jar.  We probably think that they will sting us.  They look like stars in front of us.

 Fireflies eat other insect larvae  This helps in controlling the population of bugs that reproduce quickly  Ex. Mosquitos, flies etc.

 Fireflies have a substance called luciferin which is used in cancer research and some heart disease, cystic fibrosis, and multiple sclerosis.

 They are not harmful to humans but they are deadly to predators, such as two bearded dragons, because some dragons would eat these flying beetles contain, lucibufagins, steroidal pyrone, luciferin,a protein, circulates through the insect's blood stream, making the entire insect ill to a wide variety of insects.

 The average life span of fireflies its about 2 months, but that’s if they are living in the wild.
