Welcome to Abbey Road Primary School, England. West Bridgford, Nottingham,

Nottingham is in Nottinghamshire...

Nottinghamshire (Notts.) is one of the counties in the Midlands.

Nottinghamshire is in the East Midlands

Just like in your local region, food is grown and made here. We call this ‘produce’. Let’s have a look at some more produce from the Midlands.

Pork pies have a pastry filling and a meat crust. They're delicious!

Pork pies traditionally come from Melton Mowbrary in Leicestershire. But they’re made in other places too (for example, Nottinghamshire).

Red Leicester cheese gets its name form its colour...

... and where it comes from.

Lincolnshire sausages are flavoured with the herb sage.

This is what sage looks like.

And being Lincolnshire sausages, they come from Lincolnshire, of course!

Something else flavoured with sage is Sage Derby cheese.

This comes from Derby in Derbyshire.

Something else from Derbyshire is Bakewell Tart.

This contains almonds and raspberry jam.

Sometimes it’s called ‘Cherry Bakewell Tart’ and has icing and a cherry on top.

They were first made in Bakewell in Derbyshire.

Crumpets are also known as ‘pikelets’. Toast them and then spread butter on them. Delicious!

They are often associated with the West Midlands.

Have you ever eaten any of these foods before? If so, when was the last time?
