Presentation transcript:

Remove driver from needle set Stabilize needle set while disconnecting Hold needle firmly with your fingers. Screw off stylet it’s like a luer lock, unscrew first Or you will pull the needle out!

Don’t recap, put the needle in the container it came in or place in your regular needle shuttle box. Don’t recap needle! Remember that it’s sharp enough to cut bone, it will cut your finger!

Attach EZ-Connect™ & Confirm Placement Aspirating: pulling back on syringe to confirm placement. Your are looking for blood and bone spicules (rice like particles) in the syringe * Any IV compatible tubing set will attach to the standard luer lock EZ-IO™ hub

Push a 10 ml Syringe Flush or Bolus FLUSH = FLOW Flush with 2-4 ml lidocaine plus 6-8 ml IV fluid to eliminate the pain of the fluid infusing. The fluid infusion hurts more then the needle!

Administer fluid or drugs Important Reminder - flush prior to infusion & Use pressure to improve IO flow
