The Myth of a Rainbow by Polish eTwinning team

Once upon a time the Sun met the Wind. „Let’s play chess” – said the Sun. „OK!” – answered the Wind – „but let’s have a bet. One who loses the game must stop doing its job for one day”. The Sun knew it was a very serious decision because the Earth cannot exist without its rays but it agreed. The Wind was sure it wins.

The Sun and the Wind started to play. They played almost the whole day. Luckily the Sun won so it didn’t have to stop shining. But the Wind got furious. He started to shout at the Sun: „You’ve cheated! It is impossible that you won! I am the champion among all the elements!”

Angry Wind started to blow as strong as it could. It caused that all the clouds came to that part of the sky. The Sun was so happy after winning the game that it didn’t let them to cover it up.

The Sun was shining and the Rain was raining at the same time. It has never happened before. The Ground, the Sky and the Air were extremly surprised!

It was then that the rays of the sun and the raindrops came together and made a beautiful, big and colourful rainbow. The wind finally accepted his defeat so that he and the sun became inseparable. The wind stopped blowing and sun was shining in the sky for the rest of the day.
