Innovative Inventions of the Industrial Revolution Can you guess this innovative invention?

Innovative Inventions of the Industrial Revolution During the early Industrial Revolution, inventions such as the steam engine were generally the work of gifted tinkerers. They experimented with simple machines to make them better. By the mid 1800s, the pace of change quickened as the marriage of science, technology and industry spurred massive economic, social and cultural change.

Innovative Inventions of the Industrial Revolution Fill in your Innovative Inventions Chart for each invention you read about. As a group, discuss and decide if the invention brought about economic, social and/or cultural change. Fill in that section of your chart. Your group will then hold up the appropriate card that represents the appropriate category you chose. Be ready to share your group’s reasoning with the class.

Which invention brought about the most change? In your groups, discuss and choose 3 inventions you think brought about the most change. Number those inventions 1, 2, 3. Now, out of those 3, choose 1 that you think brought about the most change. Circle the number you chose. Turn your chart over and write a brief explanation as to why you think that particular invention brought about the most change. – EX: “I believe that the light bulb brought about the most change because…”
