Hope for a New Beginning John 20, Luke 24

How can we go from hopeless to hopeful? We must know the true source

Hope for a New Beginning Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” John 20:11-13

Hope for a New Beginning …but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words. Luke 24:5b-8

Evidence The Empty Tomb …but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!

Evidence Jesus’ Words Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.

Evidence Fulfilled prophecy “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” Luke 24:44

Consider This Being struck by lightning in a year is 1 in 700,000 Being killed by lightning in a year is 1 in 2,000,000 Becoming President is 1 in 10,000,000 To fulfill even 8 of the 300 predictions about Jesus Christ the odds are 1 in 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

Hope for a New Beginning At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” John 20:14-15

Hope for a New Beginning Jesus said to her, “Mary.” John 20:16 She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”). Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her. John 20:16b-18

What is Hope? Hope is a person! Hope is not based on slogans, sermons or even evidence. Hope is a person!

From hopeless to hope I’m here The resources of heaven are at your disposal. “I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God” You have hope for a new beginning “Go instead to my brothers and tell them…”

“Who is it that you are looking for?” The Key to Receiving Hope
