Topics Review AoH workgroup activities Discuss purpose and objectives of TSS Walk through TSS website to date

AoH Workgroup Background Background from WRAP Strategic Plan: In early 2004, the Technical Oversight Committee formed a workgroup to oversee the Attribution of Haze project. The AoH WG completed a March 2005 report describing the emissions source categories and geographic source regions presently contributing to visibility impairment at each mandatory federal and tribal Class I area in the WRAP region. See: The AoH workgroup has the ongoing responsibility to integrate analytical results and data from monitoring, emissions, and modeling analyses. The AoH workgroup includes the TOC, as well as representatives from the technical and joint Forums, the IOC, and the state and tribal caucuses.

AoH Workgroup Current Work The AoH WG workplan has 2 projects : Jointly funded/contracted An AoH Phase II Report by October 2006, summarizing regional technical analysis results Develop and begin operation of the TSS (following slides) AoH WG page:

TSS Purpose The TSS is being developed by the WRAP, led by the Attribution of Haze Workgroup, to provide a single portal to technical data and analytical results prepared by WRAP Forums and Workgroups Lessons learned from §309 Technical Support Document, see: Data and results displayed on the TSS are intended to support the air quality planning needs of western state and tribes – a “decision support system” Maintenance and periodic updates is planned to support both implementation of regional haze plans & other air quality analysis management needs Primary initial and ongoing purpose of the TSS is to be the one-stop shop for access, visualization, analysis, and retrieval of the technical data and regional analytical results in support of regional haze planning in the West

TSS Objectives The TSS specifically summarizes results and consolidates information about: Air quality monitoring, meteorological & receptor modeling data analyses; Emissions inventories and models, and Gridded air quality/visibility regional modeling simulations These copious and diverse data are integrated for application to air quality planning purposes by prioritizing and refining key information and results into explanatory tools Finally, a major goal of the TSS is to make the standard and user- specified maps, charts, tables, and graphs easily available for export, while maintaining the original source data available for verification and subsequent analysis through the TSS.

TSS Schedule First Development Phase: August 2005 to October 2006 Complete operational system with regional data & analysis results Weight-of-Evidence checklist to support state analyses of reasonable progress goals Functionality/standardization for map, charts, graphs to meet Haze Rule planning requirements Ingest/display key technical data summaries Provide documentation of technical methods and results Version control Second Phase – combination of Operations/Support and Additional Development – October 2006 through December 2007 Operate TSS for haze planning Train & support TSS users Complete additional development Ongoing operation – 2008 and onward
