Bases and Missional Communities… Resourcing Base Missional Community St. Thomas’ Philadelphia King’s Centre City:Base Sheffield

Pastoral Church Missional Movement “We want to be looked after and fed by God’s Word while we try to be good people.” “We want to love God and each other and lay our lives down to reach the Last, the Least and the Lost.”

Pastoral Church Missional Movement The Western church over the recent decades. The Early Church. The Moravians, the Methodists, Baptist Missionaries, the Salvation Army, the Chinese House Church...

Missional Movement Intervention ‘Help from a distance’ Incarnation ‘Life on life’ Pastoral Church ‘The Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighbourhood’ John 1:14 (Message)

Live the Life In all three dimensions – Up, In and Out Help others to imitate the life you live Develop structures that allow others to do the same across the church ‘Join with others in following my example, brothers, and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you.’ (Philippians 3:17)

Building a Culture of Discipleship Multiplying Missional Leaders Launching Missional Communities Leading a Kingdom Movement

1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” (John 15: 1-4) How do I Live the Life?

12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3: 12-14

We engage in pruning for growth. Where am I taking hold of that for which the CHURCH has taken hold of me instead of that for which Christ has taken hold of me? Where am I taking hold of that for which the CHURCH has taken hold of me instead of that for which Christ has taken hold of me? What do I need to stop doing so I can start to do the right things? What do I need to stop doing so I can start to do the right things? How do I Live the Life?

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. How do I Live the Life?

They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2: 42-47

 Pray together  Eat together  Do mission together  Have fun together  Share resources  Shared rhythms not just meetings, other folks orbiting in and out. How do I Live the Life? ‘Oikos’ – family on mission
