Olympic Torch Olympic torch is a central symbol in the Olympics and torch lighting symbolizes the beginning of the Olympic Games

The Olympics is the biggest sporting event in the world, and its also the oldest sporting event - beginning in ancient Greece! Every four years gathering together athletes from around the world and compete for the - Olympic champions.

Types of sports competition at the Olympics; running, swimming, gymnastics, high jump, throwing a ball and much more.

Olympic symbol is five colored rings intertwined. The rings represent the five continents, and symbolize the brotherhood between people in all countries.

 The first Israeli athlete who won an Olympic medal is Yael Arad, who won the silver medal in judo in 1992.

Gal Fridman won the gold medal in sailing boats sailing in 2004 in Athens.
