Example 1: How to Bake a Cake Strategy: Peer coaching More experienced bakers pair with novice bakers Approach: Learner-centered, experiential Learners work with support to figure it out Techniques: Classroom management, pacing These techniques help to keep the class moving along. Technology: Blog Learners bake on their own at home and blog about it

Example 2: How to Bake a Cake Strategy: Direct Instruction Teacher provides step-by-step directions Approach: Teacher-Centered with Demonstration, then Guided Practice, then Independent Practice Teacher shows how to do it, and then the learners follow the process with support and then implement on their own. Techniques: Teacher Presentation, Checking for Understanding Teacher presents the process while periodically checking for learner understanding. Technology: Blog Teacher uses video to assist in explaining the process.
