The Lord is risen indeed, alleluia! WELCOME Sentence of the Day The Lord is risen indeed, alleluia! 1 Corinthians 5. 7-8

OPENING HYMN Jesus Christ Is Risen Today

Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia! our triumphant holy day, who so lately on the cross suffered to redeem our loss,

Hymns of praise then let us sing Alleluia! unto Christ, our heavenly king, who endured the cross and grave sinners to redeem and save.

But the pain that He endured Alleluia! our salvation has procured; now exalted He is King, and the angels ever sing:

praise eternal as his love; praise him, all ye heavenly host, Sing we to our God above Alleluia! praise eternal as his love; praise him, all ye heavenly host, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Anon. Lyra Davidica 1708

Our Lord Jesus Christ said: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22.37–40, Mark 12.30–31

Let us pray. Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

HYMN OF PRAISE: THE GLORIA 15/04/2017 Glory to God in the highest, and peace to God's people on earth. Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father, we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory. Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us;

at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer. 15/04/2017 you are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

PRAYER OF THE DAY Brightness of God’s glory, whom death could not conquer nor the tomb imprison: as your have shared our frailty in human flesh, help us to share your immortality in the Spirit; let no shadow of the grave terrify us, and no fear of darkness turn our hearts from you. Reveal yourself to us this day and all our days, as the First and the Last, the Living One, Our immortal Saviour and Lord. Amen.

Isaiah 25.6-9 Page 1095

Hymn to the Risen Christ APBA 327

Christ our Passover has been sacrificed for us: so let us celebrate the feast, Not with the old leaven of corruption and wickedness: but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Christ once raised from the dead dies no more: Death has no more dominion over him. In dying he died to sin once for all: in living he lives to God.

See yourselves therefore as dead to sin: and alive to God in Jesus Christ our Lord. Christ has been raised from the dead: the first fruits of those who sleep. For as by one man came death: by another has come also the resurrection of the dead; For as in Adam all die: even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

SERMON

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH I believe in God, the Father almighty, 15/04/2017 AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Let us together affirm the faith of the Church: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. 15/04/2017

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Almighty God, your Son Jesus Christ has promised that you will hear us when we ask in faith: receive the prayers we offer.

Prayer Conclusion: Hear us, Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER As our Saviour taught us, so we pray, Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

As often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim PREPARATION FOR THE LORD'S SUPPER As often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. Whoever, therefore, eats the bread and drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be answerable for the body and blood of the Lord. Examine yourselves, and only then eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

Confession Christ our Passover Lamb has been offered for us, therefore we come to celebrate the festival. Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, with a sincere and a true heart.

Heavenly Father, you have loved us with an everlasting love, but we have broken your holy laws and have left undone what we ought to have done. We are sorry for our sins and turn away from them. For the sake of your Son who died for us, forgive us, cleanse us and change us. By your Holy Spirit, enable us to live for you; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ABSOLUTION God is slow to anger and full of compassion, forgiving all who humbly repent and trust in his Son as Saviour and Lord. God therefore forgives you in Christ Jesus, in whom there is no condemnation. Amen. Our Lord Jesus Christ himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. 1 Peter 2.24

15/04/2017 We are the body of Christ His Spirit is with us The peace of the Lord be always with you And also with you.

OFFERTORY HYMN In Christ Alone

In Christ alone my hope is found In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my Light, my Strength, my Song; This Cornerstone, this Solid Ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My Comforter, my All in all, here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone. Who took on flesh; Fullness of God in helpless babe In Christ alone! Who took on flesh; Fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness, scorned by the ones He came to save: Till on that cross as Jesus died, the wrath of God was satisfied; for every sin on Him was laid; Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground his body lay; Light of the world by darkness slain; Then bursting forth in glorious day, up from the grave He rose again! And as He stands in victory, sin’s curse has lost its grip on me; For I am His and He is mine – bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death – This is the power of Christ in me; From life’s first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No pow’r of hell, no scheme of man can ever pluck me from his hand; Till He returns or calls me home, here in the pow’r of Christ I’ll stand. Words & music by Keith Getty & Stewart Townend

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We life them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise.

All glory and honour be yours always and everywhere, mighty Creator, everliving God. We give you thanks and praise for your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, who by the power of your Spirit was born of Mary and lived as one of us. By his death on the cross, he offered the one true sacrifice for sin, and obtained an eternal deliverance for his people.

And now we give you thanks that you raised him to life triumphant, and exalted him in glory. By his victory over death, the reign of sin is ended, a new day has dawned, a broken world is restored and we are made whole once more. Therefore with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we proclaim your great and glorious name, for ever praising you and saying:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. And now, gracious God, we thank you for these gifts of bread and wine, and pray that we who receive them, in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, according to our Saviour’s word, in remembrance of his suffering and death, may share his body and blood.

On the night before he died, Jesus took bread, and when he had given you thanks he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Take and eat. This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’

After supper, he took the cup, and again giving you thanks he gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Drink from this, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in Remembrance of me.’ We eat this bread and drink this cup to proclaim the death of the Lord.

We do this until he returns. Come, Lord Jesus! Father, as we recall his saving death and glorious resurrection, may we who share these gifts be renewed by your Holy Spirit and united in the body of your Son. Bring us with all your people into the joy of your eternal kingdom, there to feast at your table and join in your eternal praise:

Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive praise and honour and glory and power for ever and ever. Amen. We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. We who are many are one body, for we all share in the one bread.

All visitors are welcome HOLY COMMUNION All visitors are welcome to come forward to receive communion. Communion Hymn: Power of the Cross

Oh, to see the dawn Of the darkest day: Christ on the road to Calvary Oh, to see the dawn Of the darkest day: Christ on the road to Calvary. Tried by sinful men, Torn and beaten, then Nailed to a cross of wood. CHORUS: This, the pow'r of the cross: Christ became sin for us; Took the blame, bore the wrath— We stand forgiven at the cross.

Oh, to see the pain written on Your face, bearing the awesome weight of sin. Ev'ry bitter thought, ev'ry evil deed crowning Your bloodstained brow. Now the daylight flees; now the ground beneath quakes as its Maker bows His head. Curtain torn in two, dead are raised to life; "Finished!" the vict'ry cry.

Oh, to see my name Written in the wounds, For through Your suffering I am free. Death is crushed to death; Life is mine to live, Won through Your selfless love. FINAL CHORUS: This, the pow'r of the cross: Son of God—slain for us. What a love! What a cost! We stand forgiven at the cross Words and Music by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend Copyright © 2005 Thankyou Music

Most glorious Lord of life, we thank you that you nourish us in these Easter mysteries. Fill us with the Spirit of love and unite us in faith, that we may witness to the resurrection and show your glory to all the world.

THE SENDING OUT OF GOD’S PEOPLE 15/04/2017 THE SENDING OUT OF GOD’S PEOPLE Father, we offer ourselves to you as a living sacrifice through Jesus Christ our Lord. Send us out in the power of your Spirit to live and work to your praise and glory.

Notices

Almighty God, who redeemed us through the resurrection of Christ, and has brought us out of slavery into everlasting freedom, give you joy and peace in faith and bring you to your eternal inheritance; and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always. Amen.

RECESSIONAL HYMN

I know that He is living, whatever men may say. I serve a risen Saviour, He's in the world today; I know that He is living, whatever men may say. I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer; and just the time I need Him, He's always near.

Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way. He lives, He lives, Salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.

In all the world around me I see His loving care, and though my heart grows weary I never will despair; I know that He is leading, through all the stormy blast, the day of His appearing will come at last.

Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way. He lives, He lives, Salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King! The hope of all who seek Him, the help of all who find, none other is so loving, so good and kind.

Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.
