Presentation transcript:

Jesus Is Superior in His Office (v. 1) “Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession;” Hebrews 3:1 Christ has done the work, not religious ritual Your inheritance is in heaven, not on earth - Is that evident in our priorities? Set your mind on Christ Jesus - Have we done so enough? Jesus reveals God to us and reconciles us to God

Jesus Is Superior in His Works (v ) “He was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was in all His House. For He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house. For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God. ” Hebrews 3:2-4 Christ was faithful and Moses was faithful - Are we faithful stewards? Moses’ work only has importance as part of Jesus’ work - Because Jesus’ work is God’s work

Jesus Is Superior in His Person (v. 5-6) “Now Moses was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later; but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house, whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end. ” Hebrews 3:5-6 Moses is the servant, Jesus is the Son, we are the house Moses’ purpose was to point to Jesus It’s pointless to return to Moses now that Jesus has come

How can we be sure? “… if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end. ” Hebrews 3:6b your works can’t keep you saved your works are proof of your salvation once saved, always saved (the Lord will not lose one)

Takeaways Make sure our Faith is Genuine Still need to “Consider Jesus”
