Presentation transcript:

ETS has been established in response to two major changes in the aviation industry. 1)The first is a major regulatory change - the inclusion of the industry for the first time in Carbon Emissions monitoring and accounting. This is the result of EEC legislation which starts to take effect in 2009, and takes full effect in )The second change is part political, part cultural – it is the recognition that all airlines and aircraft operators must be seen to be doing their bit to monitor and reduce their carbon emissions for a ‘greener’ world. EU 20/20 package target is 20% GHG reduction by 2020 ETS Aviation is aiming to provide a low cost aid to meeting both challenges ETS Aviation Online aviation services

“As the sector becomes more and more regulated, our mission is to mitigate the administrative burden and minimise the cost of change, whilst simultaneously increasing efficiency”

ETS Aviation is a collaboration between aviation executives, emissions auditing specialists, and one of Europe's leading Environmental Accounting software developers.

AVIATION FOOTPRINTER Online carbon emissions accounting and reporting Aviation Footprinter is a completely new software package designed for the aviation industry by ETS Aviation to enable easy recording, monitoring and reporting of carbon emissions Aviation Footprinter is based on the award-winning Footprinter software developed by Oxford- based, Best Foot Forward Ltd, who first developed the ecological footprint methodology in 1997 and continue to be international leaders in applying the methodology to large organisations, as well as individual products and regions.

AVIATION FOOTPRINTER Online carbon emissions accounting and reporting Existing base software already used by companies and identifying substantial CO2 saving in line with Emissions saving targets Designed to make the reporting and auditing as automated as possible Arranges and checks the flight data in the required format with minimum misstatement, error and non-conformities Greatly assist the auditing process, minimizing cost Benchmarking and analysis applications, identify opportunities for carbon savings - a positive step towards more carbon-efficient flight operations.

Functionality Organises emissions reporting to simplify operator administration and accounting Organises emission reports according to verifier and regulator requirements Flags errors Includes all conversion factors and manufacturer fuel figures Crosschecks designed into system, distance, fuel etc Allows upload of paper records and documents to support auditing and verification Either manual or automated data entry Provides data aggregation Provides Tonne/Km calculation and checking Provides benchmarking and reporting tools Includes additional company environmental footprinting facilities

SUMMARY Tried and tested software framework Web-based. Use anywhere with Internet access Safe. All data backed up Secure. Dedicated server, no local code. Password protected Reliable. Uses industry-standard software components

Benefits Cutting wasteful energy use Saving Money Boosting organisation reputation Reducing carbon footprint Better management of emission data to meet reporting requirements Providing data in an accessible format for third party auditing and verification

Aviation Footprinter for EU ETS reporting Operator raw flight/ fuel etc. data in hardcopy/ electronic format Excel reporting templates (Fuel & TKM) Competent Authority Manual or automated data entry Verifiers and/ or auditors Automated reporting SAVE TIME & MONEY Eurocontrol databases Data exchange using EU ETS XML reporting language Data aggregation Calculation Error checking Monitoring Benchmarking Reporting Direct online reporting Aviation Footprinter (TM)

Environmental “Evidence from the ‘Carbon Trust’ is that better measurement and management of your carbon footprint can give immediate savings of 5% on your energy and fuel bill and highlight no-cost and low-cost actions that can uncover further saving up to 20%”. “These simple steps can pay for themselves immediately or within a few months.” Statement of Large corporate user of current footprint software “Footprinter TM was a real eye-opener, highlighting both the carbon spikes and pounds and pence” Quotes provided Best Foot Forward
