SINS AROUND THE CROSS Sin is a the transgression of the Law. One sin leads to another, thus many forms of sin. Perhaps all these forms may be seen in the crucifixion of Christ. Note some of the sins around the cross.

SINS AROUND THE CROSS “IGNORANCE” (Lack of knowledge)

“Yet now, brethren, I know that you did it in ignorance, as did also your rulers.” (Acts 3:17) Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots. (Luke 23:34) But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. (1 Cor. 2:7-8)

SINS AROUND THE CROSS “IGNORANCE” (Lack of knowledge) Will condemn.

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32) “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” (Hosea 4:6)

SINS AROUND THE CROSS “IGNORANCE” (Lack of knowledge) Will condemn. “ENVY”(Jealousy)

For he knew that they had handed Him over because of envy. (Matt. 27:18)

SINS AROUND THE CROSS “IGNORANCE” (Lack of knowledge) Will condemn. “ENVY”(Jealousy) Compare w/Joseph.

Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age. Also he made him a tunic of many colors. But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peaceably to him. Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more. So he said to them, “Please hear this dream which I have dreamed: There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.” And his brothers said to him, “Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us?”

So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words. Then he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, “Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me.” So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?” And his brothers envied him, but his father kept the matter in mind. (Genesis 37:3-11 )

SINS AROUND THE CROSS “IGNORANCE” (Lack of knowledge) Will condemn. “ENVY”(Jealousy) Compare Joseph. Among us today.

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Gal. 5:19-21) For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. (James 3:16)

SINS AROUND THE CROSS “IGNORANCE” (Lack of knowledge) Will condemn. “ENVY”(Jealousy) Compare Joseph. Among us today. “HATRED” (Malice in heart)

“He who hates Me hates My Father also. If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father. But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.’” (John 15:23-25)

SINS AROUND THE CROSS “IGNORANCE” (Lack of knowledge) Will condemn. “ENVY”(Jealousy) Compare Joseph. Among us today. “HATRED” (Malice in heart) World hates us.

Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you. (1 John 3:13) “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.” (John 15:18-21)

SINS AROUND THE CROSS “LOVE OF MONEY” (Judas sold Christ) “IGNORANCE” (Lack of knowledge) Will condemn. “ENVY”(Jealousy) Compare Joseph. Among us today. “HATRED” (Malice in heart) World hates us.

Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver. (Matt. 26:14-15)

SINS AROUND THE CROSS “LOVE OF MONEY” (Judas sold Christ) Beware!!!!“IGNORANCE” (Lack of knowledge) Will condemn. “ENVY”(Jealousy) Compare Joseph. Among us today. “HATRED” (Malice in heart) World hates us.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Tim. 6:10)

SINS AROUND THE CROSS “LOVE OF MONEY” (Judas sold Christ) Beware!!!! “FALSE WITNESS” (Lying)“IGNORANCE” (Lack of knowledge) Will condemn. “ENVY”(Jealousy) Compare Joseph. Among us today. “HATRED” (Malice in heart) World hates us.

Now the chief priests, the elders, and all the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward and said, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.’” (Matt. 26:59-61) Therefore, when the chief priests and officers saw Him, they cried out, saying, “Crucify Him, crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “You take Him and crucify Him, for I find no fault in Him.” (John 19:6)

SINS AROUND THE CROSS “LOVE OF MONEY” (Judas sold Christ) Beware!!!! “FALSE WITNESS” (Lying) Violated the ninth commandment. “IGNORANCE” (Lack of knowledge) Will condemn. “ENVY”(Jealousy) Compare Joseph. Among us today. “HATRED” (Malice in heart) World hates us.

“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” (Ex. 20:16)

SINS AROUND THE CROSS “LOVE OF MONEY” (Judas sold Christ) Beware!!!! “FALSE WITNESS” (Lying) Violated the ninth commandment. “PREJUDICE” (Judging before) “IGNORANCE” (Lack of knowledge) Will condemn. “ENVY”(Jealousy) Compare Joseph. Among us today. “HATRED” (Malice in heart) World hates us.

Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote--Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” And Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!” Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” Nathanael answered and said to Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” (John 1:44-49)

SINS AROUND THE CROSS “LOVE OF MONEY” (Judas sold Christ) Beware!!!! “FALSE WITNESS” (Lying) Violated the ninth commandment. “PREJUDICE” (Judging before) Still existent today. “IGNORANCE” (Lack of knowledge) Will condemn. “ENVY”(Jealousy) Compare Joseph. Among us today. “HATRED” (Malice in heart) World hates us.

Many Reject the Power of God to Salvation So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. (Rom. 1:16-17) They Reject the Gospel by Rejecting Baptism And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:15-16)
