Background National League for Democracy Her pro-democracy party won over 80 percent of the legislative seats in 1990, but she was disqualified from serving because of her house arrest. Won Nobel Peace Prize in 1992 She was released 1995 but again arrested on September 22, 2000, and authorities have extended it regularly.
