Member of Introduction Nowadays several conditions are affecting movable heritage management: –High mobility (transportation, warehouses, exhibitions,...) –No accessible information concerning the heritage object The result is a growing environment of insecurity arising in this sector (museums, investors, artists,...) Traceability is the best way to warranty full security to cultural objects RFID helps us to assure this traceability

Member of Each RFID tag has a unique serial number which allows individual, unrepeatable identification worldwide Additional data store area that permits to register higher volume of information No line-of-sight is required to read the chip, so the tag can be embedded, and hence be able to work in harsh environments (high temperatures,…) Security elements and encryption possibilities Availability of sensor devices (temperature, humidity,…) Compatibility: common devices such as mobile phones or PDA’s can be used as readers with minimum adaptation RFID features
Member of Artworks Traceability Ability to track an artwork through the different steps of its life, from the creation onwards Be able to identify, register and transmit the information anytime and anywhere RFID is an excellent technology to assure traceability due to its intrinsic features But some problems arise when trying to mark directly the art object: –Broad casuistic, difficult standardization –Troubles in the manipulation of the object –Preserve requirements –Existing copyrights
Member of Artworks documentation To solve this, our proposal is to mark the documents that serve to identify, register and follow-up the artwork To create a standard documentation process suitable for all types of heritage objects Anyway, Saident keeps on working in the development of different RFID seals (with embedded tags) to be attached to the artworks
