OIC Central Asia Member Countries (OICAC) Members: Afghanistan (69), Azerbaijan(92), Kazakhstan (95), Kyrgyzstan (92), Tajikistan (92), Turkmenistan(92) and Uzbekistan (96). Membership to WTO: Kyrgyzstan (1998) and Tajikistan (2013) and others are observers except Turkmenistan. Regional Agreements: ECO, SAARC, BSEC, GUAAM and EAEC, important Custom Union (KAZ, KYR, BELARUS, RUSSIA) TPSOIC: not signed nor ratified OIC Agreement on Promotion, Protection and Guarantee of Investment: Afghanistan (signed) Status of SMIIC: not signed nor ratified. Landlocked countries: high trade cost (10 documents of exports (redtapes), 67 days to export, USD5,144 exports cost of container (inland transportation and handling).

OIC Central Asia Member Countries Market size: 110 millions consumers in 2013 World Trade (exports+imports) in 2013: USD billion i.e. 5.3% of OIC Trade Intra-OIC Trade (exports+imports) in 2013: USD 35.8 billion i.e. 4.6% of intra-OIC Trade Intra-OIC Trade Share in 2013: 16.2% (( Afghanistan (44.8%), Azerbaijan (20%), Kazakhstan (7.7%), Kyrgyzstan (45.9%), Tajikistan (51%), Turkmenistan (27.8%) and Uzbekistan (31.4%)).

OIC Central Asia Member Countries Major OICAC customers: Russia, China, India, Iran, KSA, Italy, Pakistan, France, Turkey and Kazakhstan. Major OICAC Suppliers: China, Russia, Japan, Turkey, Germany, USA, Iran, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and UK. MNF Applied tariff average in 2012: Afghanistan (5.9%), Azerbaijan (9.1%), Kazakhstan (9.5%), Kyrgyzstan (7.5%), Tajikistan (8.1%), Turkmenistan (n.a) and Uzbekistan (15.4%). Overall FDI inflows in 2013: USD 15,074.4 million i.e. ( Afghanistan (69.3 ), Azerbaijan (2,632), Kazakhstan (9,738.5), Kyrgyzstan (757.6), Tajikistan (107.8), Turkmenistan (3,061) and Uzbekistan (1,077).

Actions of ICDT for Central Asia Countries ICDT has drawn up guidelines for cooperation with the OIC Central Asia Member States within the framework of the implementation of resolution n° 42/37-POL adopted by the 37 th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, held in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan in Areas of cooperation: -Trade information and assistance of the trade promotion centres and trade points (MOU signed with KAZNEX in June 2011), ICDT proposes to organise a mission of Setting up of trade information systems in 2016 for the benefit of OIC Central Asia TPOs. - Assistance in the organisation of Fairs and Exhibitions and Forums (Holding of a Regional Fair of Central Asia Countries in concomitance with the 7th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF): Astana, Kazakhstan, 7-9 June 2011) and holding of a Business Forum on “OIC-Central Asia Business Forum”: in collaboration with ITFC (IDB Group), Astana, Kazakhstan, November 2011) and holding 3rd OIC Asia Arab Business Forum in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 2013). ICDT is ready to organise in 2015 a workshop on the technical organisation of fairs and exhibitions for the benefit of OIC Central Asia.

Actions of ICDT for Central Asia Countries -Assistance in trade negotiations-ICDT organised a training seminar on “Exports and Investment Promotion Strategies in the context of globalisation” in Lefkosa, Turkish Cypriot State on March 2014 for the benefit of OIC Member Speaking English Countries including Central Asia Member States and ICDT proposes to organise a sensitizing seminar on TPS/OIC Agreement and PRETAS and Rules of Origin Protocols in order to expedite the process of ratification of this agreement by Central Asia Countries in ICDT has initiated since a decade a technical assistance to the OIC Countries in the field of Multilateral Trade Negotiations within WTO, this assistance consists of: Training seminars for the benefit of the executives of Member States; Notes and studies on the MTN; Technical assistance on request to extend assistance to the Central Asia Countries in their accession process to the WTO; Assistance on request in the preparations of negotiations.
