Game Idea : Rogue-Like

Basic Idea A rogue-like game is one that is characterized by procedural level generation, tile-based graphics, and permanent death. This genre was first used by the 1980 game Rogue, hence the origin on the name.

Characters In the main menu, you shall choose a character, which have different attack types and gameplay styles. When first played, there is a Warrior and an Archer. The Warrior is melee based and has higher health. The archer has lower health but is completely ranged. There will also be subsets of these character that can be unlocked by using the base character and achieving certain in-game goals, such as killing specific bosses.

Upgrades When you begin the game, if you are playing with a base character, they will begin with no items, some sub-characters will begin with some items. There are different item types that you can encounter throughout the game. This includes, Activated Items, Passive Items, Armor, Weapons, and more. You can only have a limited number of Activated Items. You can have one piece of each armor slot, one weapon (may be changed per character), and unlimited passive items. Certain Items can only show up for certain characters, such as a sword for warrior or bow for archer.

Map The maps are floors of a tower which you are ascending. Each floor has one boss, one random upgrade room, and one armory. The rest of the rooms can be filled with enemies. The boss room is the room needed to be defeated in order to ascend to the next floor, after defeating the boss, you are rewarded with a random passive item. The random upgrade room can have any passive or activated item. The armory room can have any weapon or armor that you can equip.

Gameplay For movement, the controls will be basic WASD. When you aim to attack, you will hold an Arrow Key and release it to attack. You can hold it an attack for a longer time for more damage, or tap for weaker but faster attacks. You have a maximum amount of Health that can be increased with passive items. You have no maximum of Armor. Armor reduces the amount of damage you take when hit.

Multiplayer There may be a form of Co-op in the game, in which both players can choose whichever character or sub-character and play alongside each other. This will increase difficulty of the game and increase the total items found by double.

Gameplay Example
