LIMESTONE LANDSCAPES

BY THE END OF THIS LESSON YOU WILL EXPERTS AT ANSWERING THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS… 1.What is Limestone and its features? 2.What are some of the uses of Limestone?

WHAT IS LIMESTONE? Limestone is a type of SEDIMENTARY ROCK TASK 1. Discuss in pairs and write 5 key points or ideas on what you think a sedimentary rock is. (Clue… Think back to work you have done in Science Lessons)

SO.. HOW WAS LIMESTONE REALLY FORMED? England was covered by a shallow tropical sea As the small animals and corals died in the sea, their bodies fell to the sea bed. After million of years this layer was very thick. As it compacted and turned hard, it eventually turned to limestone. The soft rock we know today.

WHAT DOES LIMESTONE LOOK LIKE? Well lets play a game to find out.. Task 2. Task 2. I will show you 8 pictures. You must decide on one different key word that describes each picture.. For Example: I see this picture and I think of the key word ‘WHITE’ Because I think that the word white describes the colour of the limestone.

HAVE A GO ON YOUR OWN…

TRY THE NEXT 4 IN PAIRS…

USES OF LIMESTONE

ARE YOU AN EXPERT NOW? 1.What is Limestone and its features? 2.What are some of the uses of Limestone?

HOMEWORK

I want a side page in your books on EITHER How Limestone was formed.. OR The uses of Limestone. To be in next lesson (26 th April)
