Today we will manipulate very large and very small numbers. Manipulate=work with  very large numbers – numbers in the millions or higher; have 7 or more digits very small numbers - numbers in the thousandths or smaller; thousandths are fractional parts of 1000

Vocabulary Expanded form – A way to write numbers that shows the place value of each digit. 100, , , = 123, 709

Before you can learn to write numbers in word form you must know how to spell these words: one two three four five six seven eight nine ten twenty thirty forty fifty sixty seventy eighty ninety hundred thousand eleven twelve thirteen fourteen fifteen sixteen seventeen eighteen nineteen million

Tip 690,492 Do not use “and” when writing whole numbers. The word “and” will be used when you are reading numbers with decimals. Six hundred and ninety-thousand, and four hundred and ninety-two. and four hundred and ninety-two.
