Students in this program work at least one year beyond grade level with their intellectual peers. Classroom instruction expands and accelerates the core curriculum to accommodate the unique needs and interests of gifted students. Teachers deliver a rigorous interdisciplinary core curriculum encompassing Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics.

 Are aligned with college and work expectations;  Are clear, understandable and consistent;  Include rigorous content and application of knowledge through high-order skills;  Build upon strengths and lessons of current state standards;  Are informed by other top performing countries, so that all students are prepared to succeed in our global economy and society; and  Are evidence-based.  To succeed in the 21st century, all students will need to perform to high standards and acquire mastery of rigorous core subject material.  All students also will need to gain the cognitive and social skills that enable them to deal with the complex challenges of our age.  Framework for 21st Century Readiness emphasizes life and career skills, learning and innovation skills, information, media and technology skills as well as core subjects and 21st century themes. 21 st Century Skills

 The model of passively learning facts and reciting them out of context is no longer sufficient to prepare gifted students to survive in today’s world. Solving highly complex problems requires that students have both fundamental skills (reading, writing, and math) and digital-age skills (teamwork, problem solving, research gathering, time management, information synthesizing, utilizing high tech tools). With this combination of skills, students become directors and managers of their learning process, guided and mentored by a skilled teacher. Problem-Based Learning Fair

 The goal of Design Squad is to give kids a stronger understanding of the design process, and the connection between engineering and the things we all use in everyday life.  The DESIGN SQUAD NATION website equips kids with science and math skills, inspires them, and lays the foundation they need to participate in engineering activities later in life.
