If you’re one in a million in China…

…there are 1,300 people just like you.

In India there are 1,100 people just like you.

The 25% of the population in China with the highest IQ’s…

…is greater than the total population of North America.

.

.

In fact, last year more Chinese students took the English AP exam than American students.

It is estimated that a weeks worth of New York Times…

…contains more information than a person was likely to come across in a lifetime in the 18 th century.

It is estimated that 40 exabytes (4.0 X ) of unique new information will be generated worldwide this year.

That is more than in the previous 5,000 years.

The amount of new technical information is doubling every two years. 2x

For students starting a four-year technical or college degree, this means that…

…half of what they learn in their first year of study will be outdated by their third year of study.

Predictions are that by 2013 a supercomputer will be built that exceeds the computation capability of the human brain.

And while technical predictions further out than about 15 years are hard to do…

…predictions are that by 2049 a $1,000 computer will exceed the computational capabilities of the entire human species.

The U.S. is the only country among free-market countries…

…where the current generation is less well educated than the previous one.

Every year, one in three young adults – more than 1.2 million people –

drops out of high school.

One in four U.S. working families is low income.

One in every 100 U.S. adults 16 and older…

…is in prison or jail in America. About 43% do not have a high school diploma or equivalent.

About 2 million immigrants come to the U.S. each year seeking jobs.

About 50% of them have low literacy levels.

About 8,000 people turn 60 every day.

More than two-thirds of the workforce is beyond the reach of schools.

So now you know.

What can we do to Reach Higher, Florida?

Let’s start REACHING …

…because we do make a difference. Adult Education and Literacy…Reaching Higher
