 MS. 3 rd semester  Research area ◦ Segment Scheduling for P2P-based wireless VoD service  Project ◦ MOVi-TV (Sep./2008~Jun./2010)  Segment scheduling  Openmoko (porting on handheld device)  Publications ◦ 1 domestic paper A priority-based segment scheduling in peer-to-peer-based wireless VoD, KSPC 2008  Graduation ◦ / (if postponed) ◦ Adaptation of FEC to MOVi and Enhance Segment Scheduler

 Segment scheduling for MOVi DS Mobile Networks Downlink P2P link  Goal Provide more many users with good playback quality  Scheduling  Sender/receiver  Segment  Time  Frequency

 Adaptation of FEC (Forward Error Correction) ◦ Transmit unit is a block, a fragmentation of segment (does not use encoding/decoding) ◦ In wireless network, packet loss rate is quiet high ◦ In order to transmit reliably, adapt FEC algorithm for MOVi ◦ Two candidates  Network Coding  Digital Fountain Approach ◦ Select one idea from survey and simple simulation ◦ Result should be implementation in Testbed  Group-based segment scheduling ◦ When P2P-connection > Downlink, average performance and scalability of MOVi is increased ◦ To increase P2P-connection, make a group of nodes then one node can transmit using localized broadcast ◦ This idea also need packet encoding/decoding

 Expected Output ◦ FEC adapted MOVi system (Implementation) ◦ Group-based segment scheduler (Simulation  Implementation) ◦ Paper work (if possible)  Plan
