Presentation transcript:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. Believe!

Reasons to believe in a literal resurrection 1.Is it possible that Jesus didn’t really die? – Having been flogged by the Roman soldiers… – Having been crucified… – Having been declared dead by the executioners… – Having been prepared for burial by Joseph and Nicodemus… – Having been given up as dead by his friends… I think we can be pretty sure he was actually DEAD!

Reasons to believe in a literal resurrection 1.Is it possible that Jesus didn’t really die? – Flogged, crucified, certified dead, prepared for burial, mourned by his friends – Yes he was dead! 2.Is it possible that the disciples stole the body? – This was the original excuse concocted by the Jews -27:63-64 If the guards were asleep how could they know that it was the disciples - Matt 28: Was it wishful thinking or mere spiritual resurrection in the disciples? – The disciples claimed he was physically resurrected If they were lying why didn’t Jews just bring out the body? 4.The dramatic change in the disciples indicates something incredible happened
